Your ring can identify step patterns with a high level of precision (90-95% accuracy) from your finger.
However, some parameters can cause the result to be distorted:
- You need to take more than 4 steps in a row in less than 30 sec.
- Constant vibrations (motorbike, driving, stroller, etc) against the ring can count for extra steps.
- If you hold someone else's hand during a walk or move them very, very little, like putting your hand in your pocket while walking, the ring may go missing.
Other wearables or apps may show different step estimates because they use different methods of categorizing steps. Many trackers set a different threshold for what counts as a step while others categorize all movements as steps.
- If you think that the ring underestimates a lot of steps, start by changing the hand you wear the ring first.
- If you don’t notice any improvement, we need to determine whether the issue comes from the server not processing your steps correctly. To check this, look for any data gaps in your Activity Intensity graph (the Energy circle, for example). If you notice missing sections or “holes” in the data, it likely means the server didn’t process some of your steps. If that’s the case, please note there is nothing to do on your side and that we’re already aware of this issue and are actively working on a fix.
